New Doomsday Vault Challenge Mode!

We’ve launched a Doomsday Vault Challenge Mode update which increases replayability and offers small, bite-sized challenges with arcade-style gameplay. Challenge Mode allows players to compare and improve their own performance and compete with other players on global leaderboards. The challenge levels will also lay the groundwork for a future ranking system where players can ‘level up’ and customise their robot with visual and animated rewards.

Doomsday Vault ‘Challenge Mode’ is a game mode that contains a new set of self-contained levels separate to the existing ‘Adventure Mode’ regions and levels. Challenge levels offer players bite-sized challenges focused on a specific goal such as racing to reach a finish location as fast as they can, or collecting a number of pickup items against the clock. Challenge levels do not contain seeds to collect and return to the Vault.

The new challenge levels are standalone from the main story and have their own look and feel, ultimately being more of an ‘arcade game’ experience by having a single goal, faster pace, more active user interface elements, and a much quicker game loop. The arcade focus also means that challenge levels are not necessarily grounded in the reality offered by adventure levels, so they can contain unreal and impossible spaces.

Challenge mode levels are released over time to give them the feeling of being a shared experience with friends and other players around the world. After a challenge level becomes available it will always be available, rather than being locked again until another challenge time window opens up.

Doomsday Vault Challenges are out now so go and race to the finish against the clock, collect all of the minerals, solve mazes as fast as you can, and more!
